Arkansas Black Spur is a compact variation of the Arkansas Black apple. It features spur growth, meaning the buds are closer together, resulting in more flowers and leaves in a shorter distance. The tree’s branches are shorter, making it more compact while still being well-rooted and anchored in the ground, as it’s grafted onto a seedling rootstock. The apples are large, very dark red, and can be stored for months. They also resist browning in fruit salads.  Arkansas Black is also fire blight resistant. This variety is ideal for hot summer regions and requires 500-600 hours of winter temperatures below 45°F.
